Why do you think Marie initially reacted to her counselor the way she did?

Do you think her final conclusion is justified (that if she had to do it over again she would lie earlier and better)? What do you think could have been done in her case to lead her to a different conclusion? What can be done in general?

What do you think about her statement that “if the truth is inconvenient, if it doesn’t fit, then they don’t believe it”?

Both the DA and Detective Duval express concern about how many things can go wrong in a case like this. Sexual assault and domestic violence cases are notoriously difficult to take to court. Why do you think that is?

What did you think of the perpetrator’s brother’s claim “I swear I had no idea. I mean, he’s weird, but a lot of people are weird…. I didn’t expect this”?
