Board of Directors
ALC's all-volunteer Board of Directors provides strategic governance and support for ALC’s Executive Leadership Team as they oversee the daily work and implementation of the agency’s mission.
Board members typically serve a 3-year term (with a maximum of 3 consecutive terms), and may act as a Director at Large or as Board Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary, or Treasurer. Regardless of their role on the Board, all directors attend 10 Board meetings each year, assist the Executive Leadership Team with special projects, participate in fundraising and outreach efforts, and respond to Board communications throughout the year.
We are currently accepting Board applications. Interested in volunteering as a Director on ALC’s volunteer governing board? Find more details and our Board Interest Form here.

MEET ALC’S BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Jenelle Stefanic, Interim Chair
A native of Colorado, Jenelle fell in love with Leadville while earning her A.A.S. degree in Environmental Technology at Colorado Mountain College. Jenelle later completed her B.S. in Organizational Leadership and has spent her career working to clean up legacy mining impacted groundwater to improve the ecosystem and health of the Upper Arkansas Headwaters. She worked as an intern at the Yak Tunnel water treatment plant, worked in water quality research with USGS, and has been with the Bureau of Reclamation Leadville Mine Drainage treatment plant for 26 years.
Jenelle joined the Advocates Board in 2019 and is grateful for the opportunity to support our community in this role. She has previously served as ALC’s Board Secretary and is currently serving as interim Chair from January through May 2026.
In her free time Jenelle loves hiking, time with her fur babies, and taking care of her historic home.
Andy Hofer, Vice Chair
Andy was born in Maryland and went to school in Boston where he received a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. As Andy began working as an engineer, it quickly became evident that this was not for him!
Andy had a deep desire to connect with people, leading him to pursue a master’s degree in physical therapy. He moved to Leadville in 2013 and was the physical therapist at St. Vincent Hospital. Andy is now the owner of Andy’s Appliance Repair here in Leadville.
Andy is active in the community. He is a Lake County Middle School alpine ski coach. He also has been a mentor at full circle, where his passion was recruiting and coaching Latino youth to be on the ski team. Andy runs a weekly Kids Ride Day at the motocross track for any and all youth.
Andy became a Board member of the Advocates in June 2024 and was elected Vice Chair in January 2026. He brings to the Board a desire to collaborate with like-minded individuals. He hopes to be an asset to members of our community who are in need of connection.
Leigh Foster, Treasurer
Leigh was born in Denver and grew up in Eagle County. Leigh received a bachelor’s degree in human development and family studies from Colorado State University. After receiving her degree, Leigh worked with at-risk youth in a residential treatment center before becoming a firefighter in Leadville. Leigh worked for the fire department in 2005, leaving to pursue a higher level of medical education in Denver. She has been a Denver Health paramedic since 2012. Leigh is currently the paramedic manager for the Denver Support Team Assisted Response (STAR) Program.
STAR is an alternative response program that sends a paramedic and social worker to low level police calls instead of the police. STAR is a collaboration between several different entities including the City and County of Denver Public Health and Environment, the Office of Neighborhood Safety, WellPower, Servicio’s de La Raza and Denver Health Paramedics. Leigh became a Board Member to leverage her experience in first response, advocacy, and collaboration to help support the residents of Lake County. She lives in Leadville.
Alex “Xander” Cutler, Secretary
After working at ALC from 2020 through 2024 in various violence prevention roles, Alex moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico, while retaining a great love for the agency and belief in ALC’s mission. In late 2025, Alex was asked to join the Board and to serve as Secretary.
Continuing to work in the field of violence prevention, Alex works for the state of New Mexico, responsible for the Department of Health’s gun violence prevention programming. With two master’s degrees in applied anthropology and public health, Alex also serves on the Board of a grassroots non-profit in the nation of Uganda, Girls for the Future – Uganda, that keeps girls in schools with free menstrual products, outreach, and education.
When not striving to shape better, safer communities, Alex loves snuggling with their kittens, drafting a new fantasy novel by the end of the year, reading the Absolute Wonder Woman comics, and traveling this beautiful world.
Hannah Guilford, Director-at-Large & Immediate Past Chair
Hannah grew up in Michigan and moved to Colorado in 2016. She lived in Leadville until 2023, when she moved to Salida, and has been lucky enough to be a part of the ALC Board since 2022.
Hannah has worked to support domestic violence and sexual assault survivors as well as youth experiencing homelessness, and is currently the Youth Program Manager at The Alliance in Salida.
After completing 2 consecutive executive terms as Board Chair, Hannah became a Director at Large in January 2026.
When she’s not spending her time on long-distance backpacking trips, you can find Hannah with her nose in a book or eating baked goods — or both!
Wendy Wyskiel, Director-at-Large
Wendy brings extensive professional experience to ALC’s Board of Directors, with decades of experience in high-tech program/project management at the federal level, where she oversaw projects with budgets ranging from $100,000 to $10 million. She also has an undergraduate degree in small business management and graduate degrees in organizational leadership and database technologies.
Wendy’s first visit to Leadville was to run the Leadville Marathon, and she just kept coming back! She moved to Leadville permanently in late 2020. Wendy retired in 2021 and quickly became active volunteering across the community, which helped her integrate and meet the really great people who live in the area. One of Wendy’s favorite volunteer roles has been mentoring two Leadville youth through Full Circle of Lake County’s Mentoring Program for the last 4 years. She is thrilled to expand her volunteer work as a ALC Board Member and is deeply passionate about supporting survivors and vulnerable populations.
She loves the outdoors and spends time running, biking (mountain biking is new!), and enjoying snow sports. Wendy’s home is filled with art — her own creations and those of others — and her three cats. You’ll even find some of Wendy’s work featured in ALC’s Admin Office, as well as in our annual silent auction fundraiser.
