After an overwhelming response to our recent call for Board member applications, ALC is thrilled to welcome two new members to our Board of Directors.
Welcome, Andy Hofer!
Andy was born in Maryland and went to school in Boston where he received a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. As Andy began working as an engineer, it quickly became evident that this was not for him!
Andy had a deep desire to connect with people, leading him to pursue a master’s degree in physical therapy. He moved to Leadville in 2013 and was the physical therapist at St. Vincent Hospital. Andy is now the owner of Andy’s Appliance Repair here in Leadville.
Andy is active in the community. He is a Lake County Middle School alpine ski coach. He also has been a mentor at full circle, where his passion was recruiting and coaching Latino youth to be on the ski team. Andy runs a weekly Kids Ride Day at the motocross track for any and all youth.
Andy became a Board member of the Advocates in June 2024. He brings to the Board a desire to collaborate with like-minded individuals. He hopes to be an asset to members of our community who are in need of connection.
Welcome, Amanda Rogers!
Having grown up between Florida and Indiana, Amanda is captivated by the mountains. She moved to Colorado in 2016 seeking outdoor pursuits and made her way to Leadville in 2021, where she has finally found a place that feels like home.
Amanda is the English Language Development teacher at the Intermediate School, a recent change from her time teaching LCIS’ third-graders. She earned an MA in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Denver in 2018 and has been educating ever since, building positive classroom environments and promoting equity so all students can thrive. She is passionate about language, equity, nature-based learning, and improving outcomes for students throughout their public school experience.
When she’s not staying late after school, Amanda enjoys running, hiking, and skiing with her partner and her dog — or knitting on the couch with the cat in her lap when the weather turns foul.

Andy and Amanda will both be serving 3-year terms on our all-volunteer Board of Directors. We’re also delighted that former Chair and current Director at Large Casey Doran has decided to join us for another 3-year term.
