The Board of Directors for Advocates of Lake County is seeking new members, and we want YOU to join us!
ALC’s Board is made up of volunteers who generously give their time and talents to support the organization’s mission of providing services and support to survivors of violence and housing insecurity in Lake County. Meet our current Board.
We’re seeking candidates who care about violence prevention work and advocacy, and who have about 3-6 hours a month to contribute to ALC.
What will you do in that time?
- Attend one 2-hour Board meeting each month on Zoom
- Respond to Board communications between meetings
- Voluntarily participate in committees that meet outside of monthly meetings
- Voluntarily attend community events and ALC activities – like our recent Empowerment Express fundraiser on June 1 and the Pride Health Carnival on June 16.
Even though the monthly time commitment for Board members is small, your impact is HUGE.
ALC’s Board is a governing board. This means that Board members are not involved with the day-to-day operations of the organization. Rather, the Board’s main purposes are to:
- Hire, evaluate, and support ALC’s Executive Director;
- Oversee the finances of the organization at a high level; and
- Assist in long-term/strategic planning.

If this sounds right for you, please contact us through our Board interest form to express interest and get more information. We especially encourage you to reach out if you:
- Are bilingual and/or bicultural
- Identify as a member of the Latinx community
- Have background or experience in financial management
- Were previously involved with nonprofits as an employee, volunteer, or Board member
- Work for Lake County School District or Colorado Mountain College
Once we receive your form, we will invite you to meet with a current Board member to further discuss your interest and the unique skills and attributes you will bring to ALC.
